Welcome to August

Welcome readers to the August posts for Jolie's Reading Fun!  This month I am going to share good books for children on Butterflies and Bugs.  I am starting with a craft for girls.  I have pictures of the craft so girls can make these for their rooms.  I will just say that I really enjoyed making mine.  You could use it to hang up in your room or you could also use it as a mini bulletin board.

Step 1- Purchase a felt butterfly.  (I bought mine at Wal-Mart for $1.88.  They had all colors.)

Step 2-  Buy some craft jewels (Also bought these at Wal-Mart).  You could use anything you wanted to decorate it.  Glitter, jewels, stickers, pictures, etc. )

Step 3- Glue them on with Elmer's glue in any pattern you want.

Step 4- Uses Letter stickers to put their name on the butterfly.

Step 5- Let it dry and then hang it wherever you want.  Great small project and doesn't cost over $5.00.

Hope you enjoy crafting your Butterfly Bulletin or Name board.

The Movie Storybook

Princess Protection Program

This started out as a movie on one of the Disney channels.  It was such a cute movie for pre-teens or teens.  I enjoyed it to and I am far away from being a teen. :)  The story is about a princess who comes to live with an ordinary girl and her father.  The girl's father is protecting the princess from the unrest in her country.  The princess has a hard time adjusting to the life of an ordinary girl and the ordinary girl has a hard time adjusting to living with a princess.    The storybook tells the story in book form and has wonderful pictures in it from the movie.   I am sure every girl who dreams of being a princess would enjoy this book.  You could even do a theme party around the book or the movie.  It would make a great princess party too.  Check it out at your local bookstore or library.

Oh wow ! I love this book!  If you have a little princess in your house or having one of the Princess Tea Parties you should get this book from the library or a book store.  It has so many Princess crafts and ones that are easy to make and not that expensive to make.

It starts out with a section on The Secret to Being a True Princess which is so cute.  The book shares crafts for each of the princesses.  From the class Cinderella to an Hawaiian Princess.  My favorite crafts are many in the book.  I love the Princess Bicycles.  They are decorated so cute!  I also love the Rapunzel hair.  Every little girl would love the hair.  My favorite craft though is the The Little Mermaid crafts. There are so many crafts to make and such cute ones.  Please check out the book if you have a cute princess at home or one who loves princesses.  It is a great book for princess crafts.  Happy Crafting!!!!!!

A Fairy-Tale Princess Tea

In the book Princess Tea Parties (Royal Gatherings for Little Ladies) by Michael Sparks he gives several examples of special tea parties for Little Ladies.  I chose the Fairy-Tale Princess Tea.  I made the book invitations, the crown placemat, the Creative Craft, and my daughter made royal Princess cupcakes.  I have pictures to show you and you can get all the how-to's in Michael Sparks' book.  I know all the little girls would love this tea party and you know what I think even grown-ups would enjoy a tea party too.  The Little Ladies would love making all the crafts for the party  and wearing tiara's and tutus.    Also, having a magic wand is so cool.  I had one when I taught school and my students loved it.  We sprinkled pixie dust on the students everyday.  ( Pretend Pixie Dust).    Mr. Spark's also give ideas for games and treats for the party.  It is wonderful.  In face I am thinking about having a tea party for my friends.  I have some pictures of the crafts and the cupcakes for the party.  Please check them out and let me know what you think.

Also, Hobby Lobby has some cute tiaras and princess wands.  I have a picture of them on the blog.  Enjoy!!!!!
