Scooby-Doo Readers

Football Fright
by
Gail Herman

Scooby and the gang are going to the Coolsville High School football game.  They get to the game and of course Scooby-Doo and Shaggy are hungry.  So they hurry to the snack stand whiloe the rest of the gang hurry to get seats for the game.  While in the line Scooby and Shaggy see some funny looking people going around saying GRRRRR.  Shaggy and Scooby get their food and are headed for the stands when they see the orange creatures again and decided they are "Raliens". As Scooby and Shaggy are running for the stands and they look and see what they think is an orange spaceship.  Everywhere they run they see the orange creatures who look like tigers and all the Raliens say is "Grrrrrr."  Things heat up on the football field when Scooby and Shaggy get there.  Somehow Shaggy ends up running a touchdown with Scooby's help.  At the end of the book the gang gets together and Shaggy tells them about the Raliens.  Read the book to find out who the "raliens" are.  It is a cute book and second and third graders should be able to read it on their own.

Pixie Hollow Games
Team Spirit
by
Kitty Richards

This is really a cute book.  It is about the Pixie Hollow Games and all the fairies are getting ready for the games.  A new garden fairy, named Chloe arrives for the games.  The garden fairies have never won the Pixie Hollow Games but Chloe thinks she can change that but Rosetta doesn't think so.  As fate would have it Rosetta and Chloe  become a team for the garden fairies.  Two storm fairies, Rumble and Glimmer were the five time winner of the games.  The girls start out with the Leapfrogging Race and end up last but they still continue with all the races .  They didn't win any of the races but they kept trying and stayed in the games.  Read the book to see who wins the Pixie Hollow Games.

This was a good book for teaching kids about what teamwork can do and be determined.  I really did enjoy this cute book about fairies which girls would probably like best but still a good teamwork book.

Elympics
by
X.J. Kennedy

This book is a collection of Olympic-loving, children-loving poems.  The pachyderms are participating  in their own Olympics.  The have a rollicking good time doing it.  The poems are  rhyming and fun all about the pachyderms competing.  The children will love hearing the poems and looking at the great illustrations in the book.  Check it out for some super poetry.

I hope you enjoyed the sports books for both boys and girls.  On Friday I will post the two tailgate books for the tailgating season and post a snack from one of them.  Hope you and the children will enjoy the books.  Next week I hope to post some really good fall books.  See you Friday.
