Welcome Readers
Today I am going to post about two books about football that young boys or girls would enjoy. Both are nonfiction books and have lots of pictures. I hope your young person will enjoy them. Also, a friend's blog has a good idea for a tailgate party dessert so I am going to give you a link to Sassi's blog so you can make some before your next tailgate party.
(Did your team win this past weekend?) Two of my favorites did and we had a small tailgate party for the Chiefs game and I tried some of Sassi's churros. They were great!)

My First Sports
Football
by
Ray McClellan
This book is a good beginning book for learning all about football. I even learned a few things about the game that I didn't know . I didn't know it had been around for over 150 years and that it started out as a running game. The author gives many interesting facts and also shares the basic rules of the game in a way that young people would understand. He also talks about the equipment you need to play football. ( A fun fact I didn't know was that the first footballs were made of pig bladders.) Thank goodness today they are made from cow leather. It has many interesting facts and a third or fourth grader could read it on their own. Also, check out the site www.factsurfer.com for more fun facts about
football.

The New True Book
FOOTBALL
by
Ray Broekel
This book is a lot like the one I just reviewed except it has more information and is a longer book. The author give a history of football, talks about the playing field, equipment, the offensive team, and the defensive team. He also covers the special team, scoring, the officials, the National Football League, and a list of famous professional players. The book is very easy to read and has many pictures. It would be a great book for someone wanting to know more about the game of football. Check it out and share with your young person or someone who wants to learn the game of football.
(Also check out Sassi's blog for her great recipe for Churros. Here is her blog address. http://delightfullysassi.blogspot.com/ I know you will enjoy them. Happy eating!
