Happy Thursday everyone!
I hope everyone is having a great day. Today I am going to review another Thanksgiving book. I really enjoyed this one too and I had never read it before. I hope you and your children enjoy it too.

A Pioneer Thanksgving
by
Barbara Greenwood
The story take s place in pioneer times around 1841. The Robertson family is preparing for Thanksgiving dinner. Willy Robertson peels chestnuts for the turkey stuffing, Ma cuts apples for the pies, while Pa and George hunt for the turkey. Sarah wants to pick cranberries to make cranberry sauce for the dinner and for her grandmother. So she heads out to the bog to get cranberries and her mother says for her to take her younger sister Lizzie. So Lizzie and Sarah head out to the bog even though they know they aren't suppose to be there. Something happens while they are there that gives the family a whole new reason for celebrating Thanksgiving.
The book also has directions for pioneer games and recipes and a couple of crafts one being a Corn Dolly which would really be fun for girls to make. This is a great book for elementary school age children and maybe even 5th or 6th grade children. It would be a great book to share and either play one of the games, or make a craft. A great book to use with a lesson plan and an excellent book to learn about Thanksgiving dinner in the pioneer days. So check it out at your nearest library or children's book store. Enjoy!
See you soon with another great Christmas book on Friday.
