Happy Monday!!!

Hello everyone!!!  How was your weekend?  It was beautiful weather here in the midwest.  I noticed when I was out today that some of the trees are changing colors.  Fall is a beautiful time of the year.  Also, the Kansas City Chiefs won today so I am excited they won their first game of the regular season.  So GO CHIEFS!!!

Did anyone make a scarecrow over the weekend or put one in your yard for fall?  I even hung up one on my front door today.  So I have three scarecrows on the porch now.
I would like to share a good children's Scarecrow book with you today.  I hope you will get it at the library and share it with your child  or grandchild this week.

The Scarecrow Dance
by
Jane Yolen
The Scarecrow has always been in the field to keep away the crows from the corn.  Then one magical night, the scarecrow begins to stir.   The wind blows him up into the air and off of his post.  He skips through the fields and is so happy to be free.  He skips by the barn and dances under the moon.  Then he nears the house and peers in the window and sees a young boy kneeling beside his bed.  The boy is saying his prayers. The boy prays for the farm and the scarecrow watching over the corn.  The scarecrow sheds a tear and he knows where he really belongs.

Check out this lovely book by author Jane Yolen.  She also wrote the Caldecott award wining book Owl Moon.  Please be sure to read this book and explain any words that the children might not understand.  I hope you will also make a scarecrow to put in your yard or on your door for fall.
Enjoy!!!

See you Wednesday with more books about our friends the Scarecrows!!!!
