Happy Saturday My Friends!

How is everyone's weekend going?  My daughter and I drove out to the big lake near my home.  It was frozen in parts of it but there were many gulls flying around .A couple had a big tent up near it getting married.  It was sunny and around 64 degrees out.  I thought it might be a little chilly for an outdoor wedding but to each their own. It is a pretty place to have one.
I wanted to share another American Girl book today.  I hope you have had a chance to check some of them out at your local library or at the online American Girl site.
I am enjoying reading them.

Meet Caroline
by
Kathleen Ernest

This book is about Caroline Abbott and her family which lived  during the time of the Battle of 1812. Caroline and her family live in Sackets Harbor, New York right on the shore of Lake Ontario.
Caroline's father is a shipbuilder and owns Abbott's Shipyard.
Caroline wants to be a Captain of a ship one day.
Caroline and her cousins are out sailing on the ship her father built on Lake Ontario when a British Officer boards their sloop and announces and Britain and America are at war and takes her father prisoner. Caroline promised her father that she will stay strong until he returns. Caroline helps her mother run the shipyard while her father is gone.  Then the British attack her village and it looks like the American side is in trouble.
What will Caroline do and will they win over the British?
Check out this book about Caroline and find out the answers to these questions and more.
This is a good book and I would recommend it to young girls 8-12.  I really enjoyed it.

There are several more of the Caroline books.  CHeck out the author's site at this link.
